REVIEW - Sleek 'Ultra Mattes V2 Darks Palette'

There's nothing quite like a new Sleek palette to get British beauty blogging bargainistas buzzing! This time around, Sleek are offering up two new additions to the i-divine family - 'Ultra Mattes V1 - Brights' and 'Ultra Mattes V2 - Darks'. Yesterday I went to check them out at Superdrug and came back with the darks version...

The 'Ultra Mattes V2 - Darks' palette (what a mouthful) comes in one of Sleeks standard, sturdy, black cases with a mirror in the lid and sponge applicator. There is also a plastic film sheet which lies over the shadows, with corresponding shade names printed on to it.

The top row is home to the three most 'fun' shades in the palette, as well as the three most usual.  I think I'd use the first three for colourful smokey eyes on their own, and combine the last three for a more classic look.

The colours of the bottom row are far earthier and remind me of the boho trend going around at the moment. 'Paper Bag' would make a fantastic eyebrow filler for dark haired girls; I actually used up the ENTIRE pan of dark brown in the Smokey palette this way!

While the Ultra Matte V2 - Darks palette is versatile and totally wearable - there are two potential hiccups. Firstly, some shades aren't true mattes - but soft satins. Secondly, I've a feeling many of these shades are from previous palettes, so if you collect them you'll end up with quite a few dupes!

Overall a decent all rounder - a mix of funky shades and neutrals, mattes and satins, blendable, well pigmented, 100% wearable and only £6.99. Baragin time! Available at Superdrug and Sleek online.

I own no palettes by Sleek, but if I were to get one, this would be it. I'm a sucker for darks, so for them to compile a bunch of dark shadows together into one palette? My heart is sold! Too bad it's not sold in the US and I'm not willing to deal with Sleeks customer service -- I've heard enough negative things to be totally put off from ordering from them. :-(

I really like this! Sadly, the Sleek website won't ship it to the US because of some dye or something, but I'm considering buying it off ebay instead!

I bought this at the weekend - the darks certainly appeal to me more than the brights. They are very highly pigmented though, I'm a little bit scared of making a mess on my face with this! flutterandsparkle.com
